What mocks train that study does not #
Step 1: The interface itself #
Marking for review, navigating the palette, entering numerical answers to the required precision. Candidates lose marks to the interface every year.
Step 2: The on-screen calculator #
It is basic and slow. Learn its limits before exam day, not during it.
Step 3: Question triage #
Deciding in 15 seconds whether to solve, flag or skip. This single habit separates similar-knowledge candidates.
Step 4: Not panicking at a hard shift #
A brutal paper is normalised. Mocks of varying difficulty teach you that a low raw score in a hard shift is not a disaster.
- Practise entering numerical answers. A correct value in the wrong precision scores zero, and five questions per subject now carry negative marking.
- Sit mocks in your actual shift slot. Morning-shift candidates should not train at night.
- Coaching mocks are often harder than the real paper by design. Do not read their raw scores as predictions.
- Track accuracy per subject separately — JEE Main's equal 100-mark split means one weak subject caps your total.
