For JEE Main: NCERT for Chemistry theory, then one strong book per subject — H.C. Verma or D.C. Pandey for Physics, Cengage or S.L. Loney/Amit Agarwal for Maths, and NCERT plus O.P. Tandon or M.S. Chouhan for Chemistry. Add previous years' papers, which matter more than any book. The classic mistake is buying JEE Advanced-level material for a JEE Main target — Irodov and Tata McGraw-Hill are above what Main asks.

- NCERT Chemistry is genuinely sufficient for Inorganic in JEE Main. Supplement only Physical and Organic.
- Do not use Irodov for JEE Main. It is calibrated for Advanced and beyond; the time is better spent on past papers.
- One book per subject, finished. Sampling five Maths books is the most common form of busywork in JEE preparation.
- Past papers beat books for the final three months. Switch over deliberately.

Irodov, Krotov — JEE Advanced and Olympiad level. Tata McGraw-Hill Maths at full depth — built for Advanced. Multiple books per topic — the most common time sink. Unsorted "10,000 questions" PDFs — no difficulty grading, no diagnostic value.
