NEET leads to medicine, JEE to engineering — the choice is a career decision, not an exam-difficulty decision. Structurally: NEET is one offline paper with Biology as half the marks and rewards recall; JEE Main is a computer-based test with equal Physics, Chemistry and Maths and rewards problem-solving. You cannot meaningfully prepare for both, because the subject that dominates each is the one the other does not test.

Can you prepare for both? #
Physics and Chemistry overlap, but Biology and Mathematics do not, and each is roughly half of its own exam's character. Attempting both usually produces two mediocre results. The exception is a genuinely undecided student in Class 11 who keeps both subjects and commits by the start of Class 12 — and even then, one exam should be primary.
- Decide on the career, not the exam. Medicine is a 5.5-year degree plus likely PG; engineering is four years with faster entry to work. That difference matters more than which paper is harder.
- NEET's odds are harsher at the top: roughly 1.1 lakh MBBS seats against 20–24 lakh candidates. Engineering has far more seats.
- If you dislike rote recall, NEET Biology will be a grind for two years. If you dislike abstract problem-solving, JEE Maths will be.
- NEET runs once a year. A bad day costs twelve months; JEE Main gives you two sessions.
