The IPMAT syllabus has two subjects at IIM Indore — Quantitative Ability and Verbal Ability — and three at IIM Rohtak, which adds Logical Reasoning. Quant runs to Class 11–12 level (arithmetic, algebra, numbers, geometry, modern maths); Verbal covers reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary and para-jumbles. There is no prescribed syllabus document, so the list below is reconstructed from recent papers.
IIM Indore and IIM Rohtak publish exam patterns, not syllabi. What follows is built from the questions that actually appear, with an honest note on which topics are worth your time.

- Arithmetic and algebra carry the paper. If your time is limited, finish these two completely before touching anything else.
- Matrices, determinants and calculus appear in Class 12 maths but not in IPMAT. Skip them.
- For Indore's short-answer section, practise solving to a clean numerical answer — no options to reverse-engineer.

Reading comprehension is the largest block and the most trainable. Vocabulary lists help at the margin; daily reading moves the score.
Logical Reasoning — IIM Rohtak only #
Arrangements (linear, circular), blood relations, directions, coding-decoding, syllogisms, series, Venn diagrams, data sufficiency, clocks and calendars. Indore does not test this section, so if you are applying only to Indore you can leave it out entirely.
How to work through it #
Step 1: Audit against a past paper #
Attempt one recent paper untimed and mark every question by topic. Your weak topics, not a generic list, become your syllabus.
Step 2: Close arithmetic and algebra first #
These two produce most of the Quant marks in both papers. Finish them before starting geometry or modern maths.
Step 3: Add the short-answer drill (Indore) #
Ten typed numerical answers a day, no options. This is the single highest-yield habit for IPMAT Indore.
Step 4: Read daily for Verbal #
One long-form article a day with a two-line summary written from memory. It builds comprehension and vocabulary at once.
